The Lever Brothers soap works at Bank Quay in Warrington closed in 2020 after about 130 years, and Dante FS Group has bought the site to build Platform @Bank Quay on it. Demolition is under way under an 18-month programme approved in 2024, with PP O'Connor as contractor; a planning application was intended before the end of 2025 and had not been lodged by November that year. As planned the scheme runs to 260,000 sq ft of modular data centre, roughly 24,150 m2, and its director Neil Rustage puts the target market at hyperscale operators and research institutions running AI and high-performance computing. Dante FS Group set up Platform Data Centres UK in September 2025 to hold it, having no operating data centres of its own at the point of announcement. Power options under discussion include a tie to the HyNet hydrogen programme.
