Eni's supercomputers live at Ferrera Erbognone, a village in the Province of Pavia in Lombardy, inside a building the company calls the Green Data Center and runs entirely for itself. Three generations of machine have gone into it - HPC4, HPC5 and, from 2024, HPC6, an HPE Cray EX235a of 3,143,520 cores that measured 477.90 petaflops on the November 2024 TOP500 list, fifth in the world and first in Europe, drawing 8,461 kW as it ran. The predecessor HPC5 reached 51.72 petaflops from 1,820 Dell servers and 7,280 NVIDIA V100 GPUs. This is Eni's only high-performance computing location.
