About AlaskaIX
Alaska's exchange was stood up under United States federal research-network sponsorship — N-Wave, the wide-area network serving NOAA and the Department of Commerce — and is maintained by the N-Wave operations centre, itself run by GlobalNOC at Indiana University rather than by a local operator or colocation company. Ports are 1G and 10G over single-mode fibre only; copper and multi-mode are not supported. Participation is voluntary and settlement-free, with no transit permitted. A participant needs a registry-allocated ASN, a maintained public peering record with an AS-SET, and routing-registry objects or RPKI authorisations.
