Leuk Teleport and Data Centre
Satellitenbodenstation Leuk Brentjong 2, Leuk Stadt, Valais, 3953, CH
Satellite dishes came first at Brentjong 2 in Leuk Stadt: the teleport has been transmitting from the Valais since 1972, and the 5,000 m2 data centre sits beneath it. The site sells colocation alongside satellite services, government and enterprise backup and disaster recovery, and connectivity for superyachts - an unusual mix that follows directly from the antennas. Signalhorn AG is the company behind it, and the LEUK Teleport & Data Centre name was adopted on 30 August 2022, on the teleport's fiftieth anniversary. Power is claimed to be entirely solar and hydroelectric, with arrays on the ground and on the antennas themselves, and the operator markets the valley's topographical shielding as protection from terrestrial 5G interference. Direct connectivity to Azure and AWS is offered, and no Swiss internet exchange is present on site.
