About Colocix Internet Exchange

Colocix is the exchange operated by Sri Lanka Telecom in Colombo, in service since 2012 and formerly branded SLT IX. It is a physical exchange: each member takes a 1G or 10G layer-2 switch port at the Pitipana data centre and peers over it, arranging the run from its own equipment to the meet-me room itself. Route servers are deployed in two physically independent locations and members are invited to establish sessions with both, advertising their own prefixes and their customers'. Bilateral member-to-member sessions over the fabric are also permitted. Members are advised to upgrade on reaching 75% of a port's peak capacity, and recurring fees apply.
