ONI runs two data centres in Portugal, and the Maia one, in the Porto metropolitan area, is the disaster-recovery counterpart to its Lisbon building at Rua da Matinha 3. The operator sells it to enterprises across the north of the country and interconnects the pair for backup and business-continuity work. Onitelecom - Infocomunicações has changed hands twice in quick succession: KKR sold it to GAEA and MásMóvil, who sold it on to the Spanish group Gigas for EUR 40 million. Since 30 November 2021 both sites have run on a five-year fully renewable supply contract with Acciona Energía, with guarantees of origin tracked per kilowatt-hour on a blockchain. ONI describes the building as having Tier III features - a design description rather than an award, and the Uptime Institute has certified nothing for the company.
