About RIX
Iceland's exchange has operated since 1999 and is run by ISNIC, the company behind the .is registry, from three Reykjavik sites including the University of Iceland campus and ISNIC's own headquarters. 27 networks were listed on 9 July 2026, among them a RIPE NCC K-root instance, Netnod, NORDUnet and Packet Clearing House. Monthly port fees excluding VAT are EUR 115 at 1Gb, EUR 220 at 10Gb, EUR 270 at 40Gb and EUR 325 at 100Gb. Colocating a router at a RIX site costs EUR 135 a month per rack unit plus a EUR 10 cable fee. A party supplying its own transceivers avoids the initial connection fee.
