Meta broke ground at Lebanon on 11 February 2026 and Mortenson started work five days later, on a 1,500-acre parcel inside Indiana's state-assembled LEAP Innovation and Research District, west of I-65 and bisected by State Road 32. The campus is planned at 1 gigawatt and more than $10 billion, with a first phase due late 2027 or early 2028; ten to twelve halls are planned across it. The building count has moved. The plan commission submission of August 2025 showed fifteen structures including twelve data halls at about 4.8 million sq ft, while Meta's February 2026 announcement described thirteen buildings and roughly 4 million sq ft. Power comes from Boone REMC, a rural electric co-operative, with Wabash Valley Power Alliance behind it, which sets Lebanon apart from Meta's investor-owned-utility campuses elsewhere. Cooling is closed-loop liquid recirculating the same water; Meta says the site will use no water for most of the year, and its agreement with the city caps draw at 3 million gallons a day, phased between 2027 and 2031.

Frequently asked questions
What stage is the Lebanon campus at?
Under construction. Meta broke ground on 11 February 2026 and Mortenson announced its construction start on 16 February 2026, with the first phase targeted for late 2027 or early 2028. Turner Construction and Faith Technologies are also on the job.
Which utility will serve it?
Boone REMC, a rural electric co-operative, together with Wabash Valley Power Alliance. Meta is backing more than 400 MW of new Indiana generation and funding transmission inside a commitment of over $120 million.
How many buildings are planned?
The August 2025 plan commission submission showed fifteen - twelve data halls plus network, logistics and administrative buildings - at about 4.8 million sq ft. Meta's February 2026 announcement described thirteen buildings and roughly 4 million sq ft on the same 1,500 acres.
How much water is the campus allowed?
Up to 3 million gallons a day of water and 1.5 million gallons a day of wastewater, phased in between 2027 and 2031, with Meta paying full service cost. More than $75 million of public water infrastructure goes in alongside.
What incentives apply?
A 35-year Indiana sales tax exemption conditional on at least $1 billion invested within six years, extensible in stages to 50 years, alongside projected property tax of more than $80 million over fifteen years and $1 million a year for twenty years into the Boone REMC Community Fund.
How does the road network change?
County Roads 325 West and 400 West are proposed for vacation north of State Road 32, while County Road 250 West stays open. About $45 million of public road improvements accompany the build.
