The site was already approved for warehouses when AWS took it on: Brewster Development Co held entitlements for four buildings totalling three million sq ft on the Lofty Road ground at Kline Township, and AWS designed its campus to fit inside that approved footprint. Ten data centre buildings of about 2.5 million sq ft are proposed across roughly 346 acres bounded by Interstate 81 and Route 309, north of McAdoo in Schuylkill County. The land changed hands in 2025 for a reported $178 million and nothing has been built on it. AWS presented the scheme to Kline Township supervisors in January 2026 and lodged plans that April; the township granted an extension and a decision was still pending in August 2026. The neighbouring Lofty Road holdings belong to Service Electric Company, the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and Pagnotti Enterprises. The campus falls under the $20 billion AWS pledged to Pennsylvania in June 2025, with 25 to 30 permanent jobs expected per building.
