About TIX Tanzania – Arusha (AIXP)

AIXP is the Arusha site of the Tanzanian exchange family run by TISPA, under the operator's tagline of keeping local traffic local. It was set up as a TISPA project with initial funding from the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority and is housed at the Arusha International Conference Centre in space provided by Habari Node. The operator describes a fully air-conditioned room with 72-hour power backup, and equipment occupying a 42U rack of routers, switches and three servers plus a 9U peering cabinet. Two routers act as route servers so a participant needs only one BGP session. 16 networks connect over 132 Gbps, and a Google Global Cache sits on the fabric.
