Cisco Umbrella (AS36692) is the network behind OpenDNS — the public recursive resolvers at 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, and the paid DNS-layer security and secure web gateway Cisco built on them after buying the company for 635 million dollars in 2015. It is heavily anycast, announcing several hundred IPv4 prefixes and rather more IPv6, and Cisco puts the platform at thousands of sessions with more than a thousand organisations.

Exchanging traffic with a recursive resolver is a different proposition from doing it with a content network, and Cisco states the case bluntly in its own record: if you have users, or if you run authoritative nameservers, there is traffic here worth carrying directly. The second half is the part most people miss. Umbrella supports EDNS Client Subnet on an opt-in basis for authoritative operators, which means it will pass a client's network prefix through to your nameservers so your answers can steer that user to the right edge, instead of to whichever of Cisco's resolver sites the query happened to land on. Ports are 100 gigabit at the major fabrics and 10 gigabit at smaller ones.
