Hurricane Electric (AS6939) operates an independently owned global IP backbone built around carrying IPv4 and IPv6 on equal terms, with five redundant 100G paths across North America, four separate 100G paths to Europe, and 100G rings through Europe, Asia and Australia and around Africa. It sells IP transit, point-to-point Layer 2 Ethernet transport between its own points of presence, and colocation in the three Bay Area facilities it operates.

Outside those three buildings, AS6939 is reachable in a large number of carrier-neutral data centres, and that is where most colocation customers buy it. Transit is available on 1G, 10G, 40G, 100G and 400G ports, with a full BGP table at no extra charge, native IPv6 delivered on the same port as IPv4 rather than as a surcharged add-on, LACP bonding across like ports and a customer-triggered blackhole community for attack traffic. The combination fits bandwidth-heavy hosting, CDN and gaming deployments looking for volume transit alongside their racks.
