Microsoft (AS8075)

Microsoft (AS8075) is the Microsoft Global Network's single public-facing autonomous system, carrying Azure's internet-facing services, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Xbox and Microsoft's own properties together. As with the other hyperscalers, its presence in a facility signals internet peering rather than a private on-ramp: an ExpressRoute circuit peers with an entirely different autonomous system, and Microsoft's published policy requires its internet peers to filter that one out.

Where a building is an ExpressRoute peering location it houses Microsoft edge routers, and a tenant cross-connects to them through the facility or through a connectivity provider. Circuits are sold from 50 Mbps to 10 Gbps, or as ExpressRoute Direct port pairs at 10, 100 and 400 Gbps for customers taking their own ports. Egress over a circuit is billed at roughly a third of the internet rate, with an unlimited-data option and a metro-local tier that includes egress outright. One constraint to design around: ExpressRoute caps at a 1,400-byte payload and does not support jumbo frames, unlike the equivalent AWS product.
