About JPIX HOKKAIDO

JPIX Hokkaido is the Sapporo node of JPIX, operator of Japan's first commercial internet exchange in 1997 and now a KDDI group company. It is the company's first node on Hokkaido, announced in 2024 in partnership with the regional carrier HOTnet, whose S.T.E.P Sapporo Data Center houses it, with service rolling out from July 2024. Both companies framed the build as a way to keep Hokkaido-origin traffic exchanged locally rather than hauling it to Tokyo. Three networks connect, each on a 10G port: HOTnet itself, Obihiro City Cable and Cato Networks. The peering LAN is 103.2.10.0/24 with 2001:de8:8:1::/64, and a separate health-check LAN runs on the fabric.
