About Lesotho Internet Exchange Point
LIXP is Lesotho's national exchange, owned and run by the LIXP Association, founded in 2011 by the local internet community with the Internet Society and the Lesotho Communications Authority. It started with four members, collapsed in 2014, and was relaunched in 2017 in the Communications Authority's own data centre on Princess Margaret Road in Maseru, where it remains. The operator publishes eight participants: both national mobile carriers, the communications ministry, the National University of Lesotho, the electricity company's communications arm, two providers and the country's network information centre. Google Global Cache and Akamai nodes and an ICANN L-root DNS instance are hosted alongside them.
