Tydal municipality in Trondelag holds 225 MW of installed capacity that Bitdeer energised in 2022 for bitcoin mining and is now converting to AI and HPC work. Power comes from local hydropower through a substation Bitdeer built for the site. A sixteen-year lease covering 121 MW, announced on 4 August 2026 and valued at US$4.7 billion, sits behind a December 2026 target of 180 MW gross installed. The Norwegian company is Tydal Data Center AS, founded by Lars Naas and Haakon Bryhni. Bitdeer's other Norwegian site, 84 MW at Elnesvagen near Molde, dates from 2019.
