Bitdeer is building a bitcoin-mining and AI site on 19 acres near Fox Creek, in Alberta's Municipal District of Greenview No. 16, powered by a 101 MW natural gas plant on the same ground rather than by the provincial grid; about 100 MW of that goes to the data centre. The land and the gas project came from Kiwetinohk Energy Corp for US$21.7 million in February 2025. Ground was broken on 2 June 2026, with energization set for Q4 2027 and an in-service date of Q2 2027 on Alberta's major projects register. Cooling is closed-loop and dry.
