Ofek - Hebrew for horizon - is the project name for a 130 MW data centre planned outside Ashdod's port, on ground held under a lease running at least 24 years and 11 months. Serverfarm and the Israel Infrastructure Fund own it half each and are developing it for Dalia Energy, which holds an option to take 30 per cent of the asset through Eshkol Energies. The power arrangement is what sets the scheme apart. Instead of a grid connection, the building is to be fed directly by Eshkol Avshal, an 850 MW gas-fired station to be constructed beside it, and Dalia has been authorised to lay a submarine optical fibre to Europe to serve the site. Capacity is designed to reach 200 MW. Infrastructure spend is put at $1.5 billion, rising to about $5 billion once computing hardware is counted. Financing for the power station is expected to close with Bank Hapoalim in the second quarter of 2026, and commercial operation is targeted for the second half of 2029.
