Lockbourne Road on the south side of Columbus carries Google's Franklin County data centre - the site the company used as the backdrop when it announced a further $2.3 billion for Ohio across Columbus, Lancaster and New Albany. The building came out of a $1 billion programme announced in 2018 and 2019 that covered 618 acres bought for the Columbus and Lancaster pair. Google has put more than $20 billion into Ohio since 2019, along with $1 million into the state's Grid Innovation Fund, and publishes no floor area for the site.
