Zayo Group (AS6461) operates a Tier 1 IP backbone over its own fibre, spanning more than 240,000 route miles and 400 markets worldwide, with roughly 90,000 on-net locations in North America and connections into over 1,900 data centres. Its network services include IP transit, dedicated Internet access, Ethernet, wavelengths, dark fibre, cloud connectivity and DDoS protection, with European service now delivered by the separately held Zayo Europe.

Zayo sold its own colocation estate in 2020, so AS6461 is bought almost entirely inside third-party carrier-neutral facilities — which is where its metro and long-haul fibre usually already terminates. IP transit and dedicated Internet are delivered on 100 Mbps through 100 Gbps ports, aggregated as Nx100G where a single port is not enough, with BGP, default or static routing and dual-stack IPv4 and IPv6. That suits a colocation customer pairing Internet access with private transport between sites on the same supplier.
