About MKE-IX
MKE-IX has run since 2011 as a volunteer, donation-funded non-profit, colocated in a single Milwaukee building and positioned by its operator as a way for Wisconsin networks to peer locally instead of backhauling to Chicago. Two named sponsors carry the costs: one provides the colocation and cross-connects, the other the hardware, optics and monitoring. 7 networks connect. A 1 Gbps port is free; 10 Gbps costs USD 500 once and 100 Gbps USD 1,000 once, with no recurring port fee at all. The building sets its own cross-connect charge on top.
