About OpenCarrier OCIX
OCIX is the peering LAN of OpenCarrier eG, a German cooperative founded in September 2006 by internet providers around Dusseldorf, and it is closed rather than open: joining means becoming a member of the cooperative, which requires operating commercially in the internet industry, running an independent autonomous system, and not competing with the cooperative as an interregional carrier. Route servers run on the cooperative's own AS41692. Peers must announce only their own prefixes at a minimum of a /24, register routes in a routing registry, staff a round-the-clock operations centre and use MD5 authentication. The cooperative publishes no share price, joining fee or port charge.
