Amazon AWS PDX – Lind Campus

81708 Lind Road lies outside Hermiston's city limits in unincorporated Umatilla County, which is the whole difference between this campus and Amazon's Penney Avenue site a few miles away: Umatilla Electric Cooperative serves it directly, with no municipal utility to negotiate around. The county commissioners approved four data centres west of Hermiston on 120 acres in April 2017, and in September 2022 Amazon was reported pursuing two further plots of 9.97 and 120.83 acres. In April 2023 Amazon announced an agreement with the cooperative under which it takes responsibility for selecting its own energy supply, targeting 100% renewable power by 2025.
