BiltTek Veitsiluoto
Poikkitie 6, Kemi, 94800, FI
Power capacity
70 MW
The Veitsiluoto industrial area at Kemi, in Finnish Lapland, holds a 70 MW data centre built into halls of the former Stora Enso paper mill. Bilt Technology Finland Oy, registered in Kemi on 11 December 2024, runs it for flexible compute: the city's own announcement of the project ties it to bitcoin mining, in liquid-cooled modular halls on a closed water loop. Roughly 60 MW of the connected load is curtailable, up to 85 per cent of it automatically, which is what makes the operation useful to the Finnish grid. Twenty-two permanent jobs came with it.

Frequently asked questions
What stood at Veitsiluoto before the data centre?
A Stora Enso paper mill. Bilt fitted its halls into the existing mill premises at Kemi rather than building on greenfield land.
How much of the Kemi load can be shed?
About 60 MW of the 70 MW connection is flexible, with curtailment of as much as 85 per cent triggered automatically.
Which company holds the Veitsiluoto operation in Finland?
Bilt Technology Finland Oy, Business ID 3494058-6, registered on 11 December 2024 and part of the Malta-registered Bilt Technology group.
What workloads does the Kemi site carry?
High-density flexible compute rather than shared tenancy - mining and comparable curtailable load. Buyers scouting the Bothnian Bay market can still ask about the building and how it connects.
