Seismic Design Zone 4 is not a claim many colocation buildings make, and it is the structural fact that defines 16842 Von Karman Avenue, Building 400, in Irvine. Inside sat 11,377 sq ft of raised-floor white space in a building rated at 2.8 MW on two utility feeds from Southern California Edison, with Liebert UPS plant at N+1, Caterpillar generators holding more than 75 hours of runtime on 3,000 gallons of on-site diesel, and redundant 120-ton Trane chillers with N+1 pumps keeping the hall at 74 degrees within four. Cabinets were APC AR3100 at 42RU, fed at 120 V and 208 V in single and three phase on 20, 30 or 60 amp circuits. Detection was Fike Cheetah and VESDA over a pre-action dry-pipe system, behind man-traps, biometrics and 90 days of video retention. The address goes back further than Data Canopy: Hosting.com's data centre entity held the facility permit here from 18 September 2013. Data Canopy, bought by Intelishift in June 2023, dropped Irvine from its published portfolio between July 2024 and January 2025.
