Orbit is Datacom's largest New Zealand facility, delivering up to 10 MW from 6 Orbit Drive in Rosedale on Auckland's North Shore - ground the operator picks out as geologically stable, flood-free and well outside the Auckland volcanic field. Datacom owns, manages and operates its New Zealand estate in its entirety rather than leasing halls from someone else, and sells at Orbit from a single rack unit up to customised data floors. Cooling is by air-side economiser. Twenty-three networks are present and three exchanges are reachable on the floor: the Auckland Peering Exchange, AKL-IX and MegaIX Auckland. The Uptime Institute awarded Datacom an M&O Stamp of Approval for the Orbit Data Centre, an operations award covering how the site is run, with no Tier certification attached. Datacom also states PCI DSS, ISO 27001 and Toitu carbonreduce across the group. A second Auckland site at Highbrook adds a further 10 MW.
