Sungai Besi, in southern Kuala Lumpur, holds the oldest of Maxis Business's three Malaysian data centres: the Urban Data Centre, which the operator says has been running for more than 25 years. It is a suite rather than a hall - 1,260 sq ft, with 2.5 m from floor to ceiling, the lowest of the three sites - and that ceiling height is why Maxis positions it for low- to mid-density hosting, disaster recovery, co-location and low-latency network access. Power arrives on dual 11 kV feeds with N+1 standby generators behind them, security is manned around the clock and a network operations centre watches the site continuously. The company's other two rooms are Central DC in Cyberjaya at 776 sq ft and i-City in Shah Alam at 3,360 sq ft, and the Tier III certification Maxis publishes belongs to i-City.
