28 Thornton Crescent is Vocus's Melbourne data centre of record, a two-storey building on about 15,000 square metres of land in Mitcham that the company bought from Enterprise Data Corporation in February 2015 as half of an A$23.5 million pair, the other half being a site at Norwest Business Park in Sydney. EDC had been running data centre, business continuity and disaster recovery services there since 1987 and expanded the building in 2011; at acquisition it carried more than 300 business-continuity seats, and that inheritance still shapes the site. It took on customers from Vocus's Melbourne CBD data centre - a room of roughly 4,000 square metres originally built by Primus - when that closed at the end of September 2021. Vocus carries the site internally as DC-MEL04 and staffs it: radio access and transmission engineering roles were advertised as based at the Mitcham data centre in June 2026.
