IONOS owns and runs Lenexa for itself, and calls it the largest data centre in its estate anywhere - a position the company stated in October 2020. The site opened in 2007, draws about 13 GWh a year from Evergy on a wind supply agreement signed that same month, and carries more than a thousand photovoltaic panels rated 400 kW that cover over a fifth of load at peak sun. In October 2023 it became the third US region of the IONOS Cloud platform, after Las Vegas and Newark, running Compute Engine, Cloud Cubes, block storage and managed databases for customers in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Frequently asked questions

What runs in the Lenexa building?
IONOS's own hosting products - shared hosting, virtual and dedicated servers - and the IONOS Cloud region launched on 19 October 2023. The building is single-tenant and IONOS-owned.
Which certifications are attested for the site?
IONOS claims ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 50001 for Lenexa and holds US EPA Green Power Partner status. The Tier III reference is IONOS's own description of the design, not an Uptime Institute award.
What supplies power at Lenexa?
Evergy supply, on wind since October 2020, at about 13 GWh a year, alongside a 400 kW array of more than 1,000 panels covering over 20% of site load at peak sunlight. IONOS publishes no critical load in megawatts.
What redundancy does IONOS publish?
N+1 electrical and N+1 cooling throughout, 2N UPS behind the cloud platform, diverse fibre entry points forming a ring, redundant 100 GB internet uplinks and dual-factor physical access.
