The Terminal Commerce Building at 401 North Broad was raised between 1929 and 1931 by William Steele & Sons for the Reading Company, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996, and is large enough at 1.3 million sq ft to hold its own single-building postal code, assigned because of the mail volume the complex once generated. It assembled military vehicles during the Second World War and later housed SunGard and Amtrak mainframes. Today it is the busiest interconnection point in Pennsylvania, with more than 73 unique on-net providers, 36 peering networks, three exchanges and eight cloud on-ramps reaching AWS, Google, Microsoft and Oracle through six diverse climate-controlled points of entry.
