LAK1 at 2850 Interstate Drive in Lakeland is Cologix's central Florida colocation and disaster recovery site, more than 105,000 square feet sitting on the geographic high point of the peninsula, roughly twenty storeys above sea level and outside the floodplain. The building is hardened to Category 5 hurricane rating and the data center is constructed as a building within the building shell, which is the structural answer to a state where the weather is the primary risk. Power runs on diverse entrances with multiple generators, redundant UPS and modular redundant transfer switches, dual feeds from two separate substations and separate city power redundancy, with rapid installs through a bus distribution system. It is equidistant from Orlando, Tampa and Miami, which makes it a practical secondary site for all three.
