108 De Waal Road in Elfindale, on the Diep River side of southern Cape Town, is Africa Data Centres' CPT1, and it is in the middle of doubling. The programme announced in July 2024 adds three data halls with room for 1,000 racks and a further 6 MW of IT load, financed by a loan of up to $300 million from the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation and supported publicly by the Western Cape provincial government. Part of the supply comes through a 20-year purchase agreement with Distributed Power Africa for wheeled solar generation, the first such arrangement made for an African data centre. Twenty networks take service in the building, and both exchanges on the floor are INX-ZA fabrics: CINX and its voice counterpart. Hybrid cooling is run to a claimed water usage effectiveness of zero. Africa Data Centres moved from the Liquid Telecom group to Cassava Technologies, and sells retail and wholesale space here on a carrier-neutral basis. The group's Uptime awards sit on ADC JHB 2 at Centurion, not on Cape Town.
