Seventy-two megawatts of critical IT load on twelve acres works out at about six megawatts an acre, and in Santa Clara, where power rather than land is the binding constraint, that ratio is the point of the Laurelwood Road campus. EdgeCore is building two structures totalling 540,000 sq ft, 36 MW each, on ground it acquired in 2018: SV01 at 3580 Juliette Lane runs to 255,200 sq ft, broke ground on 25 January 2023 and opened in September 2025. Silicon Valley Power feeds the site through a purpose-built 60 kV substation inside the property, and the California Energy Commission file, docket 19-SPPE-01, puts maximum electrical load at 99 MW. Cooling is generator-backed air with adiabatic dry coolers, at a designed PUE below 1.3 and a water use effectiveness below 0.01. Zayo brought dark fibre to the campus in August 2023. Each building goes to a single customer; the permit entity of record is MECP1 Santa Clara 1, LLC. Partners Group has owned EdgeCore since 2022, committing up to $1.2 billion to acquisition and build-out, and the small power plant exemption behind the campus was approved on 4 February 2020.

Frequently asked questions
How much power does the campus carry?
72 MW of critical IT load across two buildings, 36 MW each, served by Silicon Valley Power through a 60 kV substation built inside the site. The Energy Commission file puts maximum electrical load at 99 MW behind 56 diesel standby generators of 3.0 MW each.
Which building is finished?
SV01, 255,200 sq ft at 3580 Juliette Lane, which opened in September 2025 after breaking ground on 25 January 2023. The second structure accounts for the balance of the campus's 540,000 sq ft and no completion date has been published for it.
Which planning files cover the project?
California Energy Commission docket 19-SPPE-01, the Laurelwood Data Center small power plant exemption; City of Santa Clara land use permit PLN2019-13742; and CEQA clearinghouse number 2019089107, with the notice of determination filed on 13 January 2025.
How is the campus occupied?
One building to one customer. EdgeCore leases whole buildings and engineers each to the tenant's specification; no tenant has been named publicly for SV01.
Which certifications does the campus hold?
None yet. LEED BD+C Silver is a stated design target rather than an award, and EdgeCore makes no Uptime Institute Tier claim for the site.
How much water does it use?
Very little by design. EdgeCore targets a water use effectiveness below 0.01, cooling with adiabatic dry coolers rather than evaporative plant, alongside a PUE target below 1.3.
