Equinix SV5 at 9 Great Oaks Boulevard, San Jose, is the building AWS names as its Silicon Valley Direct Connect location, and the second IBX on the Great Oaks campus, built on Equinix-owned land immediately adjacent to SV1. Announced in September 2009 as a roughly $145M, 170,000 sq ft project sized for about 2,600 cabinets at full build, the two-storey steel-frame building now lists 93,495 sq ft of colocation at a 5 kVA minimum cabinet density. Power runs N+1 across utility, high-efficiency UPS and generators with 30+ hours of fuel and fuel cells on site; cooling is N+2 with free cooling, aisle containment and decoupled dehumidification. SV5 is the one Great Oaks building that relies on aspirated HSSD/VESDA detection alone and carries the campus's lightest slab rating at 175 psf. Customers deploy cabinets, cages and Flex Space, order Direct Connect on the floor where AWS lands, and cross-connect on campus to SV1, SV10 and SV11.
