Microsoft runs its Gavle data centre in the Ersbo industrial area on 66 hectares that Gavle kommun sold it in late 2018 for SEK 145 million. Halls there were in service by June 2024, and further ones of around 24,000 m2 apiece have been building since 2025. Grid capacity comes from Vattenfall Eldistribution, which is putting up a new station at Ersbo fed from Svenska kraftnat's Angsberg. Across Gastrikland the halls draw more than 500 GWh a year. Rainwater gathered on site is recycled into humidity control.
