Filings with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs put the site at up to 116 acres carrying a 250,000 sq ft data centre; Microsoft bought the original ground in 2020 and added about 20 acres for $6 million in early 2024. Palmetto was announced with East Point and Douglasville as the three metro Atlanta sites of the East US 3 Azure region. Microsoft moved in August 2026 to void Fulton County's ten-year tax break, granted in 2020.
