Monarch is a Copia Power master plan on more than 500 acres off Penrose Lane outside Yerington, in Lyon County, Nevada, drawn as a north and a south campus totalling 4.6 million sq ft and 1,000 MW at full build. The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners moved the ground from agricultural to Specific Plan land use on 4 December 2025, then approved the rezoning on 6 August 2026 by three votes to one, with residents objecting at the hearing. That approval starts a twelve-month clock on the conditions attached to it, and final designs still need sign-off before ground is broken; none has been. Grid supply is the constraint: NV Energy has earmarked 2,550 MW for data centres in its resource plan, and until that capacity arrives Copia intends to run the site off its own gas generation and battery storage. Copia is a Carlyle-backed renewables developer rather than an established data centre operator.
