Project Kestrel is the name on the incentive filings rather than on any Google sign. The 430 acres lie in the KCI 29 Logistics Park south-west of Highway 92 and north of Winan Avenue, beside Kansas City International Airport in Platte County, and were bought from Hunt Midwest in March 2026 by Shenandoah Computing LLC, a Delaware entity affiliated with Google. Kansas City approved plans in November 2025 for five buildings of 500,000 sq ft each - 2.5 million sq ft in all, to be delivered in phases - and 44.2 acres of the holding is set aside for an Evergy substation. Port KC authorised $100 billion of revenue bonds, a financing ceiling rather than a spend, and the incentive package runs to a 35-year exemption from real and personal property taxes plus a sales tax exemption on construction materials. Energy supply is committed to at least 50% carbon-neutral sources. Google has made no public statement about Kestrel, and no construction start had been announced as of March 2026. The same entity is tied to two other Kansas City-area schemes, Project Shale and Project Micah, the second of which started building in February 2026.
