Sarpy County already had seven data centres when Google confirmed an eighth on 4 October 2019, a $600 million commitment on 275 acres at 14706 Schram Road in Papillion, next to Omaha National Cemetery. The first building permit covered 281,792 sq ft over two storeys and was valued at $18.5 million for the structure and $280 million for labour and materials. Papillion is where Google's Nebraska presence begins, and the August 2023 statewide package of $1.2 billion included further work here. Omaha Public Power District is the sole electric utility in Sarpy County, and its Sarpy Southwest Transmission Project, three lines routed in May 2021 and built between April 2022 and December 2023, was put up to carry load growth in that corner of the county. Nebraska has since changed the terms: an executive order in July 2026 shut new data centres out of ImagiNE Nebraska incentives, and users above 50 MW must now pay full cost of service. Google took the earlier Nebraska Advantage Act Tier 2 credit, worth 10 per cent of investment, and gave $100,000 to Springfield Platteview Community Schools at announcement.
