VANIX was formed by merging Vancouver's separate research-network and commercial-colocation exchanges into one not-for-profit, live from May 2014 and incorporated the following year. 78 networks connect (Aug 2026) across six buildings. Ports are billed annually, from CAD 750 for 1G to CAD 32,500 for four 100G, plus a one-off install charge; 1G is closed to new installs. Participant traffic passed 300 Gbps in September 2025.
