Equinix DC12 at 44790 Performance Circle, Ashburn, was announced open on 26 October 2017 as a $98.5 million flagship with a first phase of 1,500 cabinets and more than 57,800 gross sq ft, planned to reach 3,000 cabinets at full build. Colocation now totals 114,323 sq ft across two stories on a 250 psf slab. It was designed around indirect evaporative cooling to cut water use, with hot-aisle containment, N+1 cooling, N+1 UPS and N+1 generators holding 30 hours of fuel, in a permitted plant of eight 3,000 kW sets. Cabinets start at 5 kVA on 240/415 V, and by July 2024 50 kW-per-rack requests were being met with water to the rack. DC12 was planned as LEED Gold at announcement, an award absent from its compliance list today. Private cages, Flex Space, Managed Solutions and campus cross connects to the 526-network campus are sold here, and customer-owned fiber can run from the street manhole straight to a cage.
