Equinix DC16 at 44740 Performance Circle is the four-story building on the north side of the Ashburn campus, 249,790 sq ft of colocation in precast concrete on a structural-steel frame and slab-on-grade, more than twice DC2's 118,446 sq ft. It was still described as about to open in July 2024, and on 1 October 2024 Virginia DEQ permitted its generator plant: eleven 4,000 kW Kohler low-NOx sets for DC16, five more in a DC16S group and an 800 kW emergency unit, 64,800 kW in all. Cooling redundancy is N+2 with free cooling, humidity control and hot/cold aisle containment, UPS is N+1 with 30 hours of generator fuel at full load, cabinets start at 5 kVA on 240/415 V, and the slab is rated 250 psf. One network and one internet exchange are registered to the building so far, with the 526-network campus reached by campus cross connect. Private cages, high-density cooling, Flex Space and Managed Solutions are sold here.
